I would say that same as the first person,
try ebay you can get very very very cheap servos:

i have recently(an hour ago) purchased a miniature rc helicopter ( syma s109g apache). it had a decent flight time and found flying it challenging yet very enjoyalable. i have no experience with rc helicopters prior to this helicopter. the heli also has two LEDs which i think is an unnescesary waste of battery power which could be used to increase flight time. So....my question(s) is/are
1)how do i safely remove the led lights without causing a short circuit?
2) do i need components like resistors and uf so, what ohm or unit should it be(there are 2 leds) and how do i connect the circuit without a solderung tool but i do have a hot glue gun
3) how do i generally increase flight time or reduce recharge time?im not to sure of what battery it uses

i will be very grateful for any information you guys can provide. links to related websites would really help. And i apologize if u had trouble undersanding wat im trying to say. enlish isnt my strongest subject :p

heres the link to the website of the heli
http://www.symahelicopters.com/Syma-S109G-Gyro-3-Ch-Mini-Apache-AH-64-Helicopter-p/eh-symas109g.htm

Answer
I suggest not messing with the hot glue gun and leaving the LEDs as-is. They don't consume much battery power at all. They do let you know when the helicopter is powered, even if the throttle is not activated. This is important to know when charging the helicopter because the heli itself is supposed to be turned off when charging.

Easiest way to increase flight time for something as inexpensive as this model is probably to just get a second one. Fly one and done, then fly second one.

Answer
try getting him some rc toys like a storm launcher or mini storm launcher. you could also give him some battle helicopters called battle gyro or silverlit sky challengers. you can also get single versions of them with ought battle features for a cheaper price. Or if rc is not his kind of thing get him a video game (if he has a console obviously).

What is a good flying rc toy? ( easy ten points!)?

Andrea K

I need to give a gift and I want to give some sort of indoor flying toy. Preferably a helicopter. It should be under $30, but reliable and it could be more expensive, just not a fortune. And again, it has to be an indoor helicopter and it would nice if it came replacement blades. links would also be helpful so that I can see it.

Answer

What kind of rc helicopter should I be getting?

Chance

My dad is going to be getting me something for Christmas, $85 limit. I want a rc helicopter. Ive only had cheap walmart ones before, so i need some expertise. Im wanting a namebrand fairly decent sized helicopter that will be able take some minor crashes. I did a little research and it seems that the Align T-Rex 250 is decent. Any ideas? Remember I have $85 to spend, including taxes and shipping.

Answer
I wouldn't recommend the Align T-Rex 250, and it's over the budget anyways? The smaller the helicopter, the more crashes it can resist, and the cheaper the replacement parts are. Just the battery looks like it's 3 times more expensive than a mini helicopter, and you will need extra batteries if you would like to fly for more than 10 minutes.

Do you have a radio/controller already? If you do, you could buy the BNF version of the helicopter and it will be cheaper. If you don't, then look for the RTF version that comes with a radio/controller.

The Blade MCX RTF is $80 at Horizon Hobby
http://www.horizonhobby.com/products/blade-mcx-rtf-EFLH2200
It's a coaxil heli, so you will have to fly it indoors and outdoors only when it's not too windy. It can take a good beating, better than the t-rex, and the parts are pretty cheap.

These 3 are some I have looked at while I was doing research about rc helicopters when I wanted to purchase one. These are fun, you won't be able to do 3D tricks with them though. It depends how many channels was the one you had, these are 3 channels and good practice.

The Syma S107 is $27 at amazon. It's a beginner helicopter, but it's small and reviews say it does good in taking crashes (4 out of 5 stars).

The Helizone Combat fighter 3.5 Channels looks fun. It's $36.99 on amazon, and you can look up videos on youtube.

The Syma S107C has a built in camera, and it's $39 on amazon.

I purchased the Nano CP X BNF, and a DX6i receiver, and depending your age and experience, this is not a beginner one. But it's just something to look for in the future if you want to get into the hobby. The heli cost me $160 online, and the reciever/controller (DX6i) cost me $70 USED.

You could also suggest to him to look on craigslist for used ones, don't be uptight about it and demand a new one if your father can't afford ones over $85. I bought the DX6i for my boyfriend from craigslist, and it came in original box and everything, for less than half the price, and he loves it anyways. You could find a used Blade MCX or MCX2 for a really good price, and if it's from a person that looks like it's their hobby, it will probably be very well taken care of.

you or your father should check out this forum's for sale threads:
http://www.helifreak.com/forumdisplay.php?f=6

you can also feel free to ask questions on there, or check out the "newbie" section for advice, there has been many people also asking for a beginner heli, so you can read the responses.

Don't try to get a "professional" type helicopter because for those you need to make a bigger investment than just the helicopter. For an advanced heli you need an advanced radio, not the ones it comes with, and you will need to purchase a simulator to practice on because crashing the helicopter will cost you a lot of money!

Goodluck and have fun :)

What all can you do in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and should I get it?

Q. I have a Ps2, and I was going to get Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. Gamestop sells this game for Ps2. It's made for Ps2.

What all can you do in this game, and should I get it?
Thanks G! :) I don't really like Star Wars tho, but thank you =D
Thanks everyone :) I don't think I'm going to get it. Doesn't sound that fun as Gta 4. Think I'm gonna get a different game. Thanks anyhow =)

Answer
Its a game with class.

You would find that the sequels have more content, like San Andreas, for instance. However, the game's atmosphere is unique, the world feels "alive" and the music is great, if you like rock.

Here's what you can do:

-Buy property (some areas are given to you after completion of a mission). However, you cannot enter most of the properties' interior (some, just not all). You mainly buy them so that you can hold vehicles in your garage. Some properties are unique, and give you benefits for owning it. For instance, some spawn weapons, unique vehicles, and even give you side missions to do...like drive a ice cream truck around.

-You can dress your character up in different outfits. Its not like SA where you can choose different glasses, hats, shoes, shirts, and pants. You will find these outfits around the game, most for free last i recalled.

-Like all GTAs, you can play the role of a...
*police officer
*ambulance driver
*Taxi driver
*firefighter
...and several other jobs. Like SA, you can collect cars from the world and bring them to a chop shop to make money. You can also race in organized street races.

-There are mini games, like racing RC cars, RC planes, RC choppers, and RC boats.

-You can fly sea planes, helicopters, and drive boats. However, you cannot swim and will drown if you touch the water. There are also a mass variety of vehicles. If you've played any of the later GTAs, you may recognize all of them.

-There is a shopping mall. The mall, itself, is a mini world with a fair amount of things to do.

-There are cheats. Not as good as SA, but the basics are there. Unlimited ammo, full health, change the public's appearance, and "flying" cars.

NOTE- Cars don't actually fly, but more-so glide. Building up enough speed will cause them to fly for a short while. If you activate this cheat before attempting to cross to the other side of the city, you can easily glide over the barrier. The barrier is about 15 feet tall, invisible, and nothing bad happens if you cross over. In fact, you can buy property, drive the better vehicles, and exploit the other side of Vice City if you manage to cross early. Keep in mind that dying over there lands you in the hospital on the beginning side, again.

2nd Note- Don't activate the flying cheat and enter a helicopter. The game will freeze the moment you close the door.

The game is a true gem for its time. It may not be the best-looking or gameplay-enhanced game ever, but like mentioned...it holds class, something most games nowadays miserably lack.

REPLY:
I would reconsider, if I were you. It may not be the biggest game, but its cheap and a true GTA experience. You cant skip playing this game if you're a GTA fan. Its very much worth its value, and IMO has the most class out of ALL the GTAs.

RC HELICOPTER EXPERTS!! THIS QUESTION IS FOR YOU!?

Bob

I just ordered a Syma S108. They look very fun and cooler than the S107. What your opinion? Should I have bought the S107 for $22 or the S108 for $30?
Thanks God Bless.

Answer
i have never heard of this model however after looking up the model i can tell you this they are both mini / micro helicopters.
these micro helicopters are ones that are marketed towards people who are new and or just want a cheap helicopter to try out the hobby without sinking much cash on a helicopter. its also smaller and can be used in small spaces compared to full size helicopters. this model should be easy to fly due to its design.

in terms of s 107 vs s 108 they are pretty much the same and you would not see much difference.

the 107 has a larger battery though and could fly for a few minutes longer.

i would say the s108 is a good choice if your only spending like $30

is this your first helicopter?

if its your first helicopter and later your interested in something more challenging or larger you could go with something like what i did for my first RC helicopter that was above the lower entry level. if your interested in something priced a little higher but could perform better.

this is what i did with my first helicopter.

I own a thunder tiger mini titan e325 3d its electric and i found it easy to assemble( having never done it before)

i liked it and with help learned to fly using it.

you can find this helicopter at many sites

tower hobbies is a good place to buy from
http://www.towerhobbies.com/#

theirs lots of other places you could buy from too.

i would go with electric to start off. gas can be more complicated.

word of advice don't just buy the helicopter find someone willing to teach you how to do it without destroying it.

sometimes they can even help you set it up.

local RC clubs may be able to help you get more info on the hobby.

trust me get help learning so that you don't crash.

its a great hobby and once you learn can be great fun!

so the 107 and 108 are not to different. i wo

cheapish good remote controlled helicopter better than a three chanel? ?

Q. i have a cheap crappy 3 channel heli but i want to upgrade. i don't want to spend any more than £100 so it cant be to fancy i know... but anything better than a 3 chanel...?
and a link please

this is the helicopter i have:

and i dont want it to run on batteries like my one.
thanks

Answer
sorry but your out of luck on this one

gas powered RC helicopters are generally $750+
their also not small in scale and can be very tempermental
but most are multichannel usually 3-4

you do have the advantage of RC heli experience so you won't need the beginners stand

check out your local RC shop and ask around you might get lucky and find someone willing to sell you theirs

Which RC Helicopter should I Buy ?

Salman Sal

Hi,I am Planning to buy a RC helicopter (under 40$).It would be my first Helicopter.I want it not be too small or too large just medium size.I would like to fly it outdoor and It should be reliable .
I know I am asking alot in this budget but it should be near to these suggestions.
I would really be thankful,if someone suggests me a helicopter in this budget.

Answer
Check out the brookstone RC helicopters. They come in many prices. I bought the cloud 10 and its so cool. Its $80. Yeah, I know. But if you want one with all the works, that's the one. You could possibly find one at $40 in eBay. That does everything! I flew it outside at about 40ft high! It has lights also.

You could aso buy the smaller one that's $25, but that one only hoovers indoors. Go to brookstone.com. they have many cool stuff.
Good luck;)

where will buy rc helicopters?

Answer
Ebay is probably still the best for selling just about anything. You won't get anything close to retail price selling second hand outside of the internet because people are generally just after bargains and the niche is small

Fast charging Mini RC Helicopters?

Agitator

My little brother bought himself a mini RC helicopter, which once fully charged flies around great for about 10 minutes- then needs to be charged again. The only thing that's disappointing is that the little helicopter needs to charge for 40 minutes in order to fly for 10 minutes.

His birthday is coming up and I wanna get him a helicopter that will charge quickly, or at least quicker than 40 minutes.

Any suggestions?

Answer
Don't get a junk helicopter like airhogs. They won't last a day. Get a blade mcx, it's lots of fun, very durable and easy to learn to fly. It's a quality helicopter, but the standard charger will take about 40 minutes to charge. However, you can buy quick chargers that will charge it in much less time.

RC mini helicopter trimming?

ImAguy

I got a mini rc helicopter today, not sure of the brand. I think it is called a super battleplane item number 8817. and the trimming doesn't seem to work. I can not get to to fly streight. Any ideas/ suggestions?

Answer
I bought two of those Super Battleplane no. 8817 helicopters, and one of them has the same problem you describe. The other one does not do anything. It appeared to charge up properly, but does not respond whatsoever - after trying all possible switch settings - no action at all. So the day after Christmas, I returned to the mall where it was purchased, and of course, the vendor is gone. Fly by night. There is no warranty on the product so I guess I have no recourse. Chalk it up to experience. Caveat emptor. I'll keep trying the trim and tail adjustments on the one copter that's not DOA.

how can i stabilize my mini rc helicopter?

Jesse

i just got a new mini rc helicopter, and it keeps spinning when i get it into the air

Answer
It is very difficult to stabilise a mini rc helicopter. You can try adjusting by giving more power to the tail rotor in the opposite direction of the spin.

The tail rotor on my Mini RC helicopter broke and I have a replacement but I need help.?

seth w

I have the replacement, but when I put it on, it spirals out of control. If I look at the original and the replacement, they look identical!

What is wrong and how can I fix it?

Answer
You need to make sure you have the tail rotor oriented correctly. It is possible to install a tail rotor backwards in some cases, which would just make your heli spin like crazy.

I could give you a better answer if I could see/knew exactly what type of tail rotor you have. However, generally the tail rotor must blow air to counter the rotation of your main rotor blades.

E.g.:
- if your main blades rotate clockwise
- tail rotor pushes the tail clockwise also

This stops the tail's tendancy to rotate counter to the direction of the main rotor blades.

Alternatively, depending on the type of heli, you may have issues with your tail gyro adjustment, tail gyro direction setting, or tail servo linkage adjustment.

Hope that helps

Have questions? Message me!

why wont my mini rc helicopter fly outside?

Neil J

no its not the wind. im talking about the copter doesnt react to the remote like it does inside. outside theres more of a delayed reaction. tell me why is that?

Answer
It is because your helicopter most likely uses infrared technology.
So when flying outside...
It does work, but the signal is just shortened. The range of an IR signal is usually limited to around 30 feet or less. Infrared, also called optical control or opti-control, requires line-of-sight, that is, the LED on the IR transmitter must be pointing at the IR receiver in order to work. It doesn't see through walls. Depending on the strength of the IR signal and interference from sunlight or other infrared-transmitting devices, the range may be shortened. These limitations make IR unsuitable for RC vehicles intended for long-range flight, outdoor racing, and other activities where it may be difficult to stay in range and within line-of-sight.
So... now you know... Let me explain what you might see when you go outside and try. When you go out, you will try to fly your helicopter. It will work, but after a while, itll start flying by itself, and youll lose contorl. It will work, its just that your range is incredibly shortened.

Now, if your helicopter had an antenna on it, and it isnt using infrared technology, then it is most likely due to interference. but I doubt it.
Does your remote look like this:

http://www.crazysales.com.au/products_pictures/15/1539_10601_F.jpg

something like that with a red thing on top? If yes, I answered your question properly.

Answer

Are there any rc 6 channel co-axial helicopters or 1 ch rc helicopter.?

NISSAN

Answer
no no no. 6ch helis are usually for Flybarless helis. Never get a flybarless heli unless you know how to fly a co-axial.

what do you mean by a 1ch helicopter. if it were 1ch you would have throttle and nothing else. the very minimum helicopter is 2ch and trust me, there shit. if you are a beginner get a mini indoor 3ch heli, but if you are getting to the stage of bigger co-axial indoor/ outdoor helis, you can only go up to 4ch. that is up/ down, rudder left/ rudder right, back/ forward, and the 4th ch is banking left to right. if you are getting a bigger helicopter (any bigger than 35cm get a 4 ch to avoid blade striking) get one that is about 40cm, and get bigger (like 55cm) and so on.

I have made many mistakes in the past on buying rc helis and i dont want people to do the same things. One of these mistakes was buying a 1.05m 3.5ch heli. whenever it is windy, i can easily have a blade strike.

Hope this helps

Hello. Sorry, but you bought a cheap rip off helicopter from the actual PicooZ or Air Hogs Havoc. The Mini Hughes 300 is poorly made. You may have a receiver chip error or some sort. It can not be fixed unless you know your stuff. So... I would suggest returning it.

HELP! What rc helicopter is good but not too expensive?

lotrGurl23

I am a beginner and want to find a good remote control helicopter.

1. I want it to be able to get of the ground,
2. have a reasonable flight time in between charges
3. be reasonably easy to learn how to fly it doesn't have to be too simple I have a brain :)
4. flies straight when you want it too and not just in circles
5. This is not as important but it would be really nice if it had full range of motion (forward, back, right, left, up, down and possibly hover)
6. If it does crash preferably it won't shatter into a jazillion pieces maybe a gyro would keep it from crashing I don't know enough about them to know

I don't want one too big. Indoor is preferred to outdoor, but if it does both that's obviously fine too :). I've read that a "hobby" standard coaxial mini helicopters are better than "toy" helicopters because if something does break you can replace parts. On the other hand I'm NOT made of money so a $80 helicopter for fun is far out of my budget.

If nothing like this exists sorry to waste your time, but I'm hoping some rc helicopter junkie can read this and have a solution. I tried googling it, but I don't know enough of the terminology to find what I want. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

whats the best micro and mini sized heilcopter with the best gyro?

spartain00

and is about under a foot and at lest have replaceable parts or upgradeable parts

Answer
I always try to steer people away from cheap Chinese junk like Syma... But I have to admit the price is right. Just keep in mind that this is really a disposable helicopter. The quality control is horrendous and you will get no support from the manufacturer. Yes, some spare parts are available, but the design and engineering that goes into these cheap toys leaves a lot to be desired. As a for instance, the speed controls on Syma copters do not have any sort of LiPo cut off, so it can be very easy to ruin the battery.

For just $30 more you can get a true hobby grade helicopter with real manufacturer support if something goes wrong. For micro look at the Blade Scout: http://www.horizonhobby.com/products/blade-scout-rtf-3-ch-heli-BLH2700

For mini's, you have a lot more choices. Align makes some really fine helicopters, as does Blade. In my opinion, one of the better quality of the minis:
http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/cPath/2_382_707/products_id/220852/n/Align-T-Rex-100X-Super-Combo-Electric-RTF-Micro-Helicopter-Kit

Here is a list of quite a few micro's and minis:
http://www.amainhobbies.com/index.php?cPath=2_382_707&n=RC-Helicopters-Kits-Micro-Mini&sort=prl&filter_mfr=

Lastly, I would suggest purchasing a copter at a local hobby shop. That way you'll have local parts support and won't be waiting for the mail to arrive with a replacement part. You can just drive down the road and pick it up the same day if something breaks. A broken copter sitting on the workbench waiting for parts isn't much fun. Not to mention almost every hobby shop will have a knowledgeable person behind the counter to ask questions!

How can I hook an electric ac adapter to the charger instead of using batteries?

perryinjax

Hello,
I need an electrical engineer here possibly to help with this. I have a small rc helicopter you can view it at:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160299062598
My question is this;
The remote also charges the little helo with a short wire that plugs into the underbelly of the machine. The remote requires SIX (6) AAA batteries and I am burning through them like crazy. I know I may would be able to buy six rechargeable AAA batteries and a charger, but I dont know if that would hurt the copter, also, those rechargeable batteries and the charger are more expensive than if I could rig an ac adapter up to the battery compartment, I already have plenty of misc voltage ac adapters from other toys etc... that I can use. I am thinking I could somehow strip the wires and hook one up to the battery comp. at the north pole connector and the other lead to the south pole springy connector in the remote's battery compartment. but i dont wanna hurt the copter or blow myself up etc.. Is there some way to do this? I am not an engineer or anything so layman's terms please. thanks
I do have a NINE VOLT ac adapter but what does "mains in" mean?
It is only 700 ma though instead of one amp
is that ok?
There is no place to plug an ac adapter into so I will have to solder the end to the wires that the batteries supply current through. Also, my 9V ac adapter says 300mA instead of 700mA sorry. IT is small writing it was mistake to say it said 700 earlier. thanks

Answer
6 AAA batteries will put out 6*1.5=9V. So you need an adaptor that has mains in and 9V out.
Based on your description, I would guess that you need no more than 1 Amp of current. Your AC adaptor should therefore have more than 1A capability. Adaptors are often rated in milliamps or mA. 1000mA = 1A.

OK, I'm assuming that there is no dc-in socket on your remote control into which you can simply plug your adaptor. If there is - job done. If not, read on:

Open the battery compartment. You should see that the batteries are connected in series, with the negative (-ve) end of one battery connected to the positive (+ve) end of the next.
The wires connecting the batteries are usually visible in the battery compartment.
Locate the two extreme ends of the series string, note which one is +ve and which is negative.

Next take your ac adaptor. You need to determine which wire is positive, and which is negative. This is usually marked on the adaptor, or on the dc plug. The +ve terminal will be marked with a + and the -ve with a -. You may find that only one terminal is marked. Often a picture of the dc connector is shown.

Open the connector, if moulded with a sharp knife (ask an adult if you are not an adult). Now determine which wire is +ve and which is -ve.

Finally cut the conector off , bare the wires about 1/2" and attach the wires inside the battery compartment. +ve wire to the +ve end of the battery string and -ve to the -ve.

Job done.

If you want to be tidier, open the remote and solder the wires into the PCB where the battery attaches. Pass the wires through a small hole in the case (drill one), and add an in line connector (like one off a 9V battery, you can buy them on line). These things require a much higher level of skill though.

What is a good flying rc toy? ( easy ten points!)?

Andrea K

I need to give a gift and I want to give some sort of indoor flying toy. Preferably a helicopter. It should be under $30, but reliable and it could be more expensive, just not a fortune. And again, it has to be an indoor helicopter and it would nice if it came replacement blades. links would also be helpful so that I can see it.

mini remote control helicopter?

charles p

i am looking for a remote control helicopter that i can fly in my house but that can carry a decent amount of weight. i am not looking for a super lifter just something that can lift like the weight of a medium sized cell phone. and preferably fairly cheap.

Answer
Unfortunately small indoor helicopters are made to be as light as possible. Putting a cell phone on one, even a small cell phone would almost certainly ground it. In fact most indoor RC helicopters only weigh a fraction of a small cell phone. I can suggest the E-Flite, Walkera and E-Sky brands of helicopters which you can find at www.Helidirect.com under helicopter kits. These are probably some of the larger indoor helis you will find. The coaxials, with two main rotors and no tail rotor will be the most efficient at lifting and more stable. I can't guarantee it'll work though. I would suggest you visit a local hobby store to see if it is feasible. The next step larger would be the 400-450 size heli like the E-Flite Blade CP or 400 or the E-Sky Belt CP. These can carry the load you are looking for but will cost more. The Belt CP is the far cheaper of the two and can be found as a ready-to-fly bundle in the V2 version but the quality lacks IMO. It just depends how much you're willing to spend. Also note that it takes time and patience to learn how to fly an RC helicopter. Even beginner helicopters can be difficult to control. Just keep that in mind.

why wont my mini rc helicopter fly outside?

Neil J

no its not the wind. im talking about the copter doesnt react to the remote like it does inside. outside theres more of a delayed reaction. tell me why is that?

I own a thunder tiger mini titan e325 3d its electric and i found it easy to assemble( having never done it before)

i liked it and with help learned to fly using it.

you can find this helicopter at many sites

tower hobbies is a good place to buy from
http://www.towerhobbies.com/#

theirs lots of other places you could buy from too.

i would go with electric to start off. gas can be more complicated.

word of advice don't just buy the helicopter find someone willing to teach you how to do it without destroying it.

sometimes they can even help you set it up.

local RC clubs may be able to help you get more info on the hobby.

trust me get help learning so that you don't crash.

its a great hobby and once you learn can be great fun!

so the 107 and 108 are not to different. i wo

I found something called a "E-flite Blade mCX" off of a blog and it sounds awesome but the cheapest I can find it is $60 which is still far out of my budget :\. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Your in luck, there is a mini RC helicopter does fit your criteria pretty well.

Its the Syma S107 mini electric RC helicopter.

I've had mine for some time and I love it, its great fun and easy to fly. Its a good beginners helicopter.
If it does crash its got a metal frame and is pretty durable. Mine hit the ceiling, the desk, and the dog, and it just keeps right on going.

If you get it online you should be able to grab one for around $30 bucks. Thats it.

You can read a full review and see a video of it flying right here:

http://electricrchelicopterreviews.com/

I hope you try the s107 you wont regret it!

RC Helicopter (mini, 3 channel, falcon-x) charging problems!!?

Bela the B

when i charge the helicopter, as soon as i plug the wire in the light just stays red! I've only have had this helicopter for a week and i bought new batteries (for the controller) twice! I charge on the controller. What could the problem be?

Answer
Its broken and there is nobody who is able to fix it, like ALL of the little plastic things, they break.
and there is NO business in this world that repairs this sort of thing.

My take on all of this is to simply boycott ALL of the little plastic things!
these things come from some sweat shop in China anyhow.

Consumerism is NOT sustainable.

Which Micro Collective Pitch RC Helicopter is better?

Jon

Looking mainly at 2 nano CP Helicopters, the Blade Nano CPX and the Walkera Mini CP 6. I've heard good and bad about both, if anyone personally owns either of these Heli's can you give me some of your own list of Pros and Cons? Also I have only flown FP Heli's and heard the Micro class is best to learn 3D flying. Thanks!

Answer
actually I own both Walkera Mini CP 6 is better in my opnion Walkera is beter

Things I like with the Mini CP.
1. The landing gear is separate from the frame.
2. Servos are mounted very secure and are very close to the main shaft
3. RX mounted vertically. No foam between the RX and frame mount.
4. Canopy mounts with two separate CF rods.

About the Blade Nano CPX
The Cool
Price is great
Cheap and easy repairs
Incredibly durable, lasting and fun to play

Not cool
Charger does not come with power supply (typical)
No brushless motors stock

Beginner RC Helicopter?

NONAME

I am looking for an electronic RC helicopter... I am a beginner, and want to start a new hobby. I have looked at the GYRO mini helicopters, and I have found that they are VERY stable. I have actually tried one out and liked it very much, but the problem is, I live in a small apartment. I don't ave muck space to fly this thing and my ceilings are not high. The good thing is, I live very close to a park with a big open space with no trees. My problem is, I want a helicopter that is very stable and I can learn on, but I can't do that at my apartment with a small one. I can get a bigger outdoor one, which I have seen are very stable, but then again, if I lose control of it, the heli could easily break. Anybody have this problem or any solutions?
Thanks!

Answer
well big helicopters are usually more expensive and they are not as easy to stabilize unless they are coaxial because coaxials have 2 sets of rotor blades and they are amazing helis to start with, but they are not good with outdoors and winds. if you wanna fly outside the bigger is better because the wind cant throw it around. coaxials dont get really big but you can get "big lama" that is a beginner heli and it can stay up in some wind but not a lot. i dont recommend you starting with a 3d heli because they are hard to stabilize and if then one that you saw was stable then the pilot was pretty good! there is also fixed pitch but those are a bit harder to fly than coaxials but they are easier than 3ds. you can also get micro coaxials that are REALLY small but stable!

Beginning in RC Helicopters?

So I was looking into going into RC Helicopters. I was looking at the Blade MCPX because I want something small to fly inside but if I want I can fly outside. And also in RC terms what does 3D and CP mean?

Answer
CP means collective pitch, meaning when you turn the idle switch on, the blades speed up to full power and when the throttle stick is in neutral the blades produce zero lift. when you push the stick up, it produces positive lift, ie goes upward. when you push it down, it produces negative lift, ie it can fly upside down.

As far as 3d goes, this is the best way to describe it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3h_xgOykFw
The video is about 3g, a type of helicopter head/gyro system, but the flying style is 3d.

If you are just starting out, the mcpx will NOT be suitable.get an mcx or other coaxial (two sets of main rotors) heli, as they are easy to fly and will allow you to get oriented with controls.

Where to find information on remote control helicopters?

Jall K

Preferably an active UK forum or detailed site, that covers small indoor RC helicopters. Non UK fine too of course.

Answer
If it was me I would start by searching for which helicopter you think you want to buy, then take the name of that and type it in the search on youtube and see what comes up. A picture's worth a thousand words, and a video way more than that. You can see what other people are using and what sort of things the helicoptor is capable of, and you might see one on there that you decide you like better. Good Luck!

whats the fastest cheapest mini rc helicopter. With good front and sideways controlls

Answer
What is your definition of "fastest"? Also, front and sideways as in use of ailerons and elevator?
What do you mean by cheapest? Like $40 cheapest? $200?

Usually the fastest helicopter that is modded for a low price costs about $189.99 without the mods. You could make it go about 20 MPH. This is the Co-Axial helicopter.

The helicopter is the E-Flite Blade CX2.

looking for a mini rc helicopter?

shor_d_ing

i used to have a cheap mini rc helicopter and it was not very stable. it quickly was misplaced.
the other day a friend was playing with his new mini heli and it was extremely stable and easy to fly. he said it was a syma. i don't know what model but it was the metal frame.

im wondering if there is any other helis like this out there that are better, his budget was 50 bucks where im willing to spend more. any suggestions?

Answer
DUDE you have to check out the Z-Series Z008 Micro Helicopter w/Gyr !! this is a bad a$$ mini helicopter!! with LED lights

http://www.jatoytown.com/Z-Series-Z008-Micro-Helicopter-wGyro--As-low-as-3382_p_108.html

Its 4ch and VERY VERY VERY stable in the air with an all alloy body! Those cheap plastic 2ch and 3 ch helicopters are very unstable in the air.

This one on the other hand is one of the most stable I have seen for its size. With the hover blades you can even move it side to side which is awesome for a rc helicopter.

the retail on these are 89.99 but tell you what. use coupon code clist30 and that will give you 30% off the entire order which will make that helicopter around 60.00 which is a killer deal for that brand.

There is even a youtube video there on how that little guy flies. Check it out and let me know what you think..

There are other helicopters there too but as far as best mini one, this one takes the cake.

Hope this helps

Answer
I have had alot of experience with mini copters. I can say that 99% of the time the spinning issue is caused by several factors.

1. hair(s) just one hair wrapped around the tail rotor can cause it not to fly correctly. Check for hairs and strings , threads , etc.

2. the trim issue takes ALOT of time. It is digital so it needs several seconds to actually register into the processor bs so it can fine tune itself and set itself. Do this very , very slowly. It will take at least 5-10 minutes.

3. The battery connector harness is so tiny that if it is not plugged in snuggly and all the way in, it will cause it not to charge correctly. Try to verify it is snug by wiggling the harness a little. If it is too tight then it is not set correctly. If it is too loose then it needs to be pushed in harder.

While these are some common remedies there are others too.

Feel free too review my other questions I answered for some more info on micro R/C copters.

Feel free to email me for more specifics too.

Where can you buy or make a computer controlled RC helicopter with realtime video?

Q. Where can you buy or make a computer controlled RC helicopter with realtime video? I can make it or buy but I don't know where to find it.

Answer
Computer controlled is really hard to make and you will have to know a lot about or just know a person who does electrical engineering to build your own system.

What I would suggest you do is to get a RC helicopter that is very stable to fly like this http://www.xheli.com/50h33-warhawk300-q4-comancheblue.html. This is a coaxial helicopter, it's hover by itself and you wouldn't need to worry much about it. The reason I would use a big one is because there would be more space to store a camera. Most of the cheap coaxial helicopter are only made from plastic with no metal bearings and can only fly up and down anyway.

After you have your copter set up, something like this will help you:
http://hackedgadgets.com/2005/08/10/computer-controlled-rc-helicopter/
http://www.endurance-rc.com/pctx.html <buy an adapter to connect to your transmitter, it should come with software
Note: You may have to re-program the controls in order to control your helicopter from computer.

For the camera, get something like a mini helicopter cam like http://www.xheli.com/72p-90-carcam.html or http://www.xheli.com/72p-52-voicecam.html. Get a electrician to help you design a wireless connection system between your computer and the camera. OR buy a wireless camera out of a shop that can fit into your heli. This website has the technology you talk about: http://www.geekalerts.com/real-time-video-rc-helicopter/

What you may want to search up is UAV helicopter designs. Many people use bluetooth to control their helicopter but I would stick to radio transmitter.

i want to buy an rc helicopter please recommend (note:price range is less than $300 AUD)?

With a more advanced helicopter, you need practice or you will simply smash your heli into the ground first time out.

(The videos of them doing crazy stunts have an expert at the controls.)

This product comes with a simulator that may be helpful.
