Chance

My dad is going to be getting me something for Christmas, $85 limit. I want a rc helicopter. Ive only had cheap walmart ones before, so i need some expertise. Im wanting a namebrand fairly decent sized helicopter that will be able take some minor crashes. I did a little research and it seems that the Align T-Rex 250 is decent. Any ideas? Remember I have $85 to spend, including taxes and shipping.

Answer
I wouldn't recommend the Align T-Rex 250, and it's over the budget anyways? The smaller the helicopter, the more crashes it can resist, and the cheaper the replacement parts are. Just the battery looks like it's 3 times more expensive than a mini helicopter, and you will need extra batteries if you would like to fly for more than 10 minutes.

Do you have a radio/controller already? If you do, you could buy the BNF version of the helicopter and it will be cheaper. If you don't, then look for the RTF version that comes with a radio/controller.

The Blade MCX RTF is $80 at Horizon Hobby
http://www.horizonhobby.com/products/blade-mcx-rtf-EFLH2200
It's a coaxil heli, so you will have to fly it indoors and outdoors only when it's not too windy. It can take a good beating, better than the t-rex, and the parts are pretty cheap.

These 3 are some I have looked at while I was doing research about rc helicopters when I wanted to purchase one. These are fun, you won't be able to do 3D tricks with them though. It depends how many channels was the one you had, these are 3 channels and good practice.

The Syma S107 is $27 at amazon. It's a beginner helicopter, but it's small and reviews say it does good in taking crashes (4 out of 5 stars).

The Helizone Combat fighter 3.5 Channels looks fun. It's $36.99 on amazon, and you can look up videos on youtube.

The Syma S107C has a built in camera, and it's $39 on amazon.

I purchased the Nano CP X BNF, and a DX6i receiver, and depending your age and experience, this is not a beginner one. But it's just something to look for in the future if you want to get into the hobby. The heli cost me $160 online, and the reciever/controller (DX6i) cost me $70 USED.

You could also suggest to him to look on craigslist for used ones, don't be uptight about it and demand a new one if your father can't afford ones over $85. I bought the DX6i for my boyfriend from craigslist, and it came in original box and everything, for less than half the price, and he loves it anyways. You could find a used Blade MCX or MCX2 for a really good price, and if it's from a person that looks like it's their hobby, it will probably be very well taken care of.

you or your father should check out this forum's for sale threads:
http://www.helifreak.com/forumdisplay.php?f=6

you can also feel free to ask questions on there, or check out the "newbie" section for advice, there has been many people also asking for a beginner heli, so you can read the responses.

Don't try to get a "professional" type helicopter because for those you need to make a bigger investment than just the helicopter. For an advanced heli you need an advanced radio, not the ones it comes with, and you will need to purchase a simulator to practice on because crashing the helicopter will cost you a lot of money!

Goodluck and have fun :)

Good camera that streams live video for rc helicopter?

Andre Fost

I want to be able to stream live video from my rc helicopter. I don't want to spend anymore than $50-70 dollars on it. I would prefer being able to stream live video from my andriod phone to my computer so I can see it while it records.

Answer
http://www.spycameras.com/item,cm-5804,coin-size-58ghz-cmos-pinhole-camera.html
This is the best i could find, going any cheaper you will either get bad signal or not-so-good quality video. This will not stream to your phone, but can stream to a tv, i used to do the same with my rc truck. I simply got a small tv and put it on the porch, turned the camera on, started the engine on my rc truck, and sat down and drove. It brings a new level of control to radio control.

Remember though, the camera may only weigh a few grams, but is powered by a 9v battery, so make sure your helicopter can lift it,otherwise you may have to get a larger helicopter.

What's the best mini RC helicopter to get - around or under $100? Best value, quality, durability, range?

I recently tried out a mini RC helicopter that was about 20 bucks from the drugstore. It was really fun! But I'd like to get one that is a little better, perhaps has more range, higher quality, and a lot of fun. Any recommendations? I would like it to be a mini, not a standard size one.

Thanks!

Answer
The E-Flite Mcx S300 is on sale right now for $99.99. Everything you need to fly is included. Small, durable, and fun. Everything you need and described all in that package. Here is the link:

How do i use the RC helicopter/car in GTA liberty city stories?

Q. I downloaded a game-save and in portland safe house garage theres a mini RC Helicopter and Car,Does anyone know if i can use them?

Answer
well in order to get the helicopter in the one mission where you have to kill all those celebrities before they get to the radio station you have to perch yourself right on a building next to the portland bridge on stanton island and the helicopter will fly through there and you'll be able to jack it like a car. but i've never heard anything about an r/c car.

THE Type of rc helicopter i would like is not a small one that is for kids and not an expert big one but a sort of medium one that i could fly indoors and outdoors and not too exspensive

Answer
HI there,

If you find the mini heli too easy i suggest you start with a 250 sized heli. that is not too big, can be flown indoors and even outdoors on easy days.
You could start with a 4 channel (not 3d).

In my experience this is a very good heli to start with:
http://www.rc-heli-review.com/rc-heli-reâ¦

Easy to fly, very easy and cheap to repair in case you crash it and there are lots of spare parts availible. ALs very strudy model so won't break down on a soft crash.

Good thing is that it's even flybarless wich makes for a superiour flying experience.
Make sure you get the hovering under control before you go all out on the sticks.

It costs 150 dollars but i'll last you a long time before you grow out of this model and you won't break it that easily. If you really want to get into this hobby start out with this one and then after a year you can always upgrade to something bigger and more agile.

Rc heli, beginner???

harness

So I'm pretty new to the RC experience. I have flown a couple mini RC helicopters before, but none like this. I am thinking about getting the Double Horse 9116. It seems like a fair price and had solid reviews. My main goals are to eventually fly to some higher altitudes (maybe 75meters) for cool pics, and just learn how to fly a 4 ch heli. I have two main questions. #1 is, does anybody have any experience with this heli? My second question is, What camera could i attach to it? I have a kodak zi8 which all mounted would weight about 115 grams. Seems pretty obvious that it would be too much for a 245gram heli. So what keychain camera could be best (maybe a live stream :) Preferably off amazon. Also, Is it true that the bettery is terrible.

Answer
A 10 minute battery is actually pretty good.

I personally would go with something like the Exceed MCP-X. You still have the gyro stab, and it is a light helicopter so the parts don't have as much inertia when they hit something solid. Bigger helicopters are far more likely to break when they crash.

Are there rules on flying RC planes?

small rc nitro helicopter

BigArtD

I recently entered the world of RC planes and was curious about any rules or laws on flying planes. For example flying in parks, schools or even open fields, and also if the plane is electric or nitro powered.
I just don't want to fly in a school on the weekend and get arrested for flying a nitro plane.

Answer
This is if you are in the United States. Generally, you do not fly within 6 miles of an airport. You avoid flying in crowded area. Like in malls, a huge concert, or like outside the city shopping mall. No matter how experienced you are. You have to take into consideration of mechanical failures.
You do not fly over freeways. If your aircraft comes down onto a car, the driver could freak out (we give idiots licenses now) and crash because their precious car hit something.
Nitro or electric, it doesn't matter. The size does however. If it is too big, it is required to be flown in a certified air field. If it is small, a park will do.
Be sure to fly in places where there isn't a lot of people and that you are experienced enough to fly. It has happened before. Do not learn in parks where people are constantly gawking at your aircraft and steadily is starting a crowd. If you do not know how to fly and that aircraft hits someone, you are in deep trouble. So fly in parks where there are a few people, with enough space to crash if you have to.

You are allowed to fly in the school as long as you are not trespassing and you are allowed to be there and there aren't any children running after your aircraft. It has personally happened to me, and their parents are stupid enough to let them touch the helicopter blade when it was spinning. My defense, "Why didn't you watch your child like you're suppose to?"
So to conclude, use your best judgment. The important idea is to not get anyone hurt.

about rc nitro helicopter..?

Has

which is the best rc nitro helicopter?and how much playload can it carry?what height can it carry,and how long can it carry? and lastly what would be its cost..
i have to do a project for my college,,for that i found that if i could get such a rc helicopter my work would be much more easier......thank you

Answer
The Walkera 83# is a very special Nitro Helicopter, it is using a 15 class nitro engine, which is a relatively small (but very powerful), and the total length is longer than a 450 class Electric Heli, but smaller than a 500 class Electric Heli, which makes it the smallest size in Nitro Helis. Walkera Factory did a good job on developing this 83# Nitro Helicopter, they want to make it a Ready To Fly package, they put everything useful on the helicopter, such as a battery indicator, a good quality Gyro + Rudder Servo, 3 X High Speed Metal Gear cylic servos, External Ignition Coil for easy access, Engine Fan, 4.8V Ni-MH Battery Packa and Charger..... etc, basically you just need to buy your own Starter and fuel up the tank, and you're ready to fly this Walkera 83# Nitro Helicopter Simply, the battery pack for 500 class helicopter is expensive, and Li-Po battery needs to be taken good care of, or they will fade very quickly. Such problem won't happen to Nitro Helicopters, you just fuel up the tank and you can play the helicopter for many hours, without worrying problems like charging battery or battery fade-out problem. And you get better stability, better power output and weight balance from a Nitro Engine, that's why you always hear about people saying "Nitro Helicopter" is the Original Way to learn RC Helicopters

Product Features

* Main Rotor Diameter: 900mm
* Overall Length: 820mm
* Engine: WK-15A (15 Class)
* WK2801 2.4G Remote controller
* Pre-assembled Nitro Helicopter
* Item Weight: 6.2 pounds

Which mini rc helicopter is better for controlling and which has a longer lasting battery? I wanna do stunts with it and fly it around the house. I can only choose between the Air hogs havoc heli or the havoc stinger.

Answer
They are both the same. The only difference is the design of the two helicopters. The Air Hogs Havoc is in a Helicopter shaped body and the Air Hogs Stinger is in a Stinger Bug shaped shell or body.... You can NOT do stunts with both helicopters because they are 2 channel helicopters. The only stunt you could do is probably spin in mid air. Both could be flown around the inside of your house but NEVER outside. They both fly about the same and have the same battery time. They vary helicopter to helicopter just by a few seconds. So it is all up to you. I personally suggest the Havoc because it looks more of a helicopter.

Have a happy flying with your future purchase!

I need a really small wireless built in battery spy camera to put on my rc helicopter please help?

Oxygen

please mention that my helicopter is really small as you can see in this link
http://www.brookstone.com/mini-remote-control-rc-helicopters.html?bkiid=hmpg|mn_flash|627067p|new|s2
I live in san marcos CA so remember that what you say is available in my city or not.

Answer
You could get a 2.4 Ghz Pinhole Wireless Color Camera with audio for about $300. But at that, it is no guarantee your helicopter will fly with it. That seems like a small helicopter and the flight weight seems like it could barely fly with 7 ounces. I would suggest getting a slightly bigger helicopter first.

Where can you buy or make a computer controlled RC helicopter with realtime video?

Where can you buy or make a computer controlled RC helicopter with realtime video? I can make it or buy but I don't know where to find it.

Answer
Computer controlled is really hard to make and you will have to know a lot about or just know a person who does electrical engineering to build your own system.

What I would suggest you do is to get a RC helicopter that is very stable to fly like this http://www.xheli.com/50h33-warhawk300-q4-comancheblue.html. This is a coaxial helicopter, it's hover by itself and you wouldn't need to worry much about it. The reason I would use a big one is because there would be more space to store a camera. Most of the cheap coaxial helicopter are only made from plastic with no metal bearings and can only fly up and down anyway.

After you have your copter set up, something like this will help you:
http://hackedgadgets.com/2005/08/10/computer-controlled-rc-helicopter/
http://www.endurance-rc.com/pctx.html <buy an adapter to connect to your transmitter, it should come with software
Note: You may have to re-program the controls in order to control your helicopter from computer.

For the camera, get something like a mini helicopter cam like http://www.xheli.com/72p-90-carcam.html or http://www.xheli.com/72p-52-voicecam.html. Get a electrician to help you design a wireless connection system between your computer and the camera. OR buy a wireless camera out of a shop that can fit into your heli. This website has the technology you talk about: http://www.geekalerts.com/real-time-video-rc-helicopter/

What you may want to search up is UAV helicopter designs. Many people use bluetooth to control their helicopter but I would stick to radio transmitter.

The best all around one is the Blade CX2. The replacement parts are cheap ($1 per blade) and available at your local rc hobby store. It also more than a toy it's four full channels and a good foot in the door for a collective pitch helicopter.

Answer
They are the drive gears to connect the motor to the rotor
The small pinion gears are connected to the motor shaft and the large main gears to the helicopter blade rotor shaft like this:

IF you need to replace them, this is what they will look like:
