rc helicopter servo?

T C

What is servo for? what does it do ?

Answer
A servo is a small motor that is hooked up to the reciver. When the reciever gets a signal from the remote, it tells the servo to move. When the servo moves, it is connected to a linkage that controls either the elevator, aileron, pitch, collective, rudder, or engine power. It does this by either pushing or pulling a ball link which pushes or pulls other links to cause movement of the main blades, tail blades, or throttle. If you are thinking about getting into the hobby, I would say go for it. Before you try to fly anything though, you should go to a flying field to talk to other pilots and get the required permits and license. Good luck, and happy flying.

I have a falcon IX 3 channel gyroscope helicopter. After about a year of flying the bottom blade doesn't spin, the heli makes a squealing noise and doesn't lift off. What could be wrong with it?

Answer
Have you checked the bearing that keep the shaft straight and also the small motor sprocket that connects to the main sprocket.I had the same problem. It was a nightmare!

Have questions? Message me!

why wont my mini rc helicopter fly outside?

Neil J

no its not the wind. im talking about the copter doesnt react to the remote like it does inside. outside theres more of a delayed reaction. tell me why is that?

Answer
It is because your helicopter most likely uses infrared technology.
So when flying outside...
It does work, but the signal is just shortened. The range of an IR signal is usually limited to around 30 feet or less. Infrared, also called optical control or opti-control, requires line-of-sight, that is, the LED on the IR transmitter must be pointing at the IR receiver in order to work. It doesn't see through walls. Depending on the strength of the IR signal and interference from sunlight or other infrared-transmitting devices, the range may be shortened. These limitations make IR unsuitable for RC vehicles intended for long-range flight, outdoor racing, and other activities where it may be difficult to stay in range and within line-of-sight.
So... now you know... Let me explain what you might see when you go outside and try. When you go out, you will try to fly your helicopter. It will work, but after a while, itll start flying by itself, and youll lose contorl. It will work, its just that your range is incredibly shortened.

Now, if your helicopter had an antenna on it, and it isnt using infrared technology, then it is most likely due to interference. but I doubt it.
Does your remote look like this:

http://www.crazysales.com.au/products_pictures/15/1539_10601_F.jpg

something like that with a red thing on top? If yes, I answered your question properly.

Answer
The chopper is the world's smallest or the biggest or the first something helicopter,I just know that this helicopter is said to be the first outdoor mini RC helicopter. It looks like a replica of a big RC brand. Some ads read that"the shape, material, weight, as well as the flight performance, with quality exceeds 90% as that "big" brand but roughly 1/3 in price!"I think that is reasonable.
Regarding its flight,It is durable and light weight, as it is made of very durable and elastic materials. Aims for beginners, it is crash proof. Flies perfectly stable and easy to control, it can stand up and take off even crashed up-side down on the ground! This is a great model with more reasonable price for everyone, especially for those who are new to the RC circle.

How can i control my rc helicopter from my pc and connect a camra to it so i can also see it out of my pc?

pony

I'm want to fly my helicopter around my city and control it from my pc

Answer
The radio control box you use now can be linked with software to a computer. Do a Google search: https://www.google.com/search?q=transfer+os+to+another+computer&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a#hl=en&client=firefox-a&tbo=d&rls=org.mozilla:en-US%3Aofficial&sclient=psy-ab&q=rc+helicopter+control+by+computer&oq=rc+helicopter+control+by+computer&gs_l=serp.12..0i13i30.62657.62657.2.65224.1.1.0.0.0.0.125.125.0j1.1.0.les%3B..0.0...1c.e4-v4YJr6zI&psj=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.&fp=f4422cad1e203d45&bpcl=38897761&biw=1272&bih=610
You will need a high gain dish antenna to track the helicopter if you wish to fly farther than 300 feet from the control station. And with a GPS on board, the copter would be preset to return home if the link is lost.
For video link from the rc helicopter: https://www.google.com/search?q=transfer+os+to+another+computer&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a#hl=en&client=firefox-a&tbo=d&rls=org.mozilla:en-US%3Aofficial&sclient=psy-ab&q=video+link+from+the+rc+helicopter&oq=video+link+from+the+rc+helicopter&gs_l=serp.12...64897.64897.3.71770.1.1.0.0.0.0.166.166.0j1.1.0.les%3B..0.0...1c.NaN05bHGy7E&psj=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.&fp=f4422cad1e203d45&bpcl=38897761&biw=1272&bih=610

I have seen such RC helicopter video systems used by law enforcement, military battlefield intelligence, and professional motion picture cameramen on TV shows about technology. Now there are miniature electric copters with wireless video cameras on them for indoor use. You can fly around hallways and rooms with them. Some are inexpensive. http://www.rchelicopterfun.com/blade-mqx.html
Wireless security camera weighing a couple ounces is here: http://www.amazon.com/Mini-Wireless-Color-Camera-Microphone/dp/B000YM2OIK
You can input the composite (RCA jack) video into a computer with a video capture device on USB, but I would advise against it--might not work well with the radio control. You can use a portable TV like from Viore that will show the video well.

Answer
As a fair but not great r/c heli pilot who owns a dozen or so helicopters, here's my $0.02 worth.

Your first decision is what type of heli to buy. There are three types in the batch you've listed above; co-axial (two counter-rotating main blades like the Walkera 5#10 above), fixed pitch (like the Falcon 40), or 3D (which most of your proposed heli's are ... like the EXI 450LE)

I have and have flown helicopters like each of these. Here's my take:

Co-axial: easiest to fly and cheap, but limited in that they can't perform prolonged forward flight or any acrobatics

Fixed pitch: harder to fly, cheap, no acrobatics

3D (Collective Pitch): harder to fly, most expensive and hardest to set up, but most versitile (with practice, these can do anything)

I'd recommend:

Co-axial: if you go this route, I'd buy an E-Flight Blade MCX. It's tiny, perfect for flying around the house, and is AMAZINGLY stable (even for a coaxial heli). If you want something a little bigger, try either the E-Flight Blade CX2 or E-Sky Co-Lama V4.

Fixed Pitch: I'd skip it...

3D: For starting out I'd go with the Eflight Blade 400 because it has relatively inexpensive replacement parts. Alternatively, I consider the Thunder Tiger Mini-Titan E325 or the Align TRex 450. All of these are well built, are widely available, and have lots of dealers stocking parts.
Bear in mind that all of these are sold in varrying degrees of completion... all need a motor, speed controler, battery, 3 cyclic servos, gyro and tail servo. These electronics can run $$, so don't get sucked in by something that costs $60 (and may cost $400 to complete). Read the fine print and understand what quality components you're buying (I ended up replacing all the servos, gyro, and battery on my first heli within weeks).

Also, if you're going to go all-in along the 3D route, start by buying yourself a decent transmitter that you can grow with. I'd recommend the Specktrum DX7 (great) or JR9303 2.4Ghz (best) if you have the cash (if not the Specktrum DX6i is good too).

Finally, buiding these things (other than the coaxial helis) can be a bit tricky and set-up is critical if you want to successfully fly. I'd spend some time on the r/c heli boards (runryder and helifever are good) and/or find a local hobby shop that caters to heli pilots.

Ok, that's it... good luck!

About RC Helicopter.?

Alexiolim

Some of my questions are...

1. What are some of the RC helicopters that can last long before need to recharge again. (Please include approx how long it'll last).

2. What are some of the RC helicopters that fly quietly.

3. What is your favorite RC helicopter? (If can, please give reason).

Thanks!

Answer
To answer your questions

1. RC helicopters can be flown for the duration of the battery pack. Knowing this, most all RC helicopters can accomidate different sizes of batteries. For instance with my T-REX I can fly approximately 6-8 minutes of sport flying with a 11.1v 1700mah lipo battery and 10-15 minutes with a 11.1v 2200mah lipo battery. Knowing your setup is a very important role in how long it will fly. The weight, pitch, electronics, and style of flying all play a factor in how long it will fly. Nitro helicopters are considered infinate in flight time because you can simply fill the nitro bottle up again and again until the engine overheats.

2. This is a hard question to answer and no one helicopter is considered relativly quiet. 4 channel helisopter that have a fixed pitch are more commonly found to produce less noise such as the E-Sky lama v4. Whereas with helicopters such as the T-REX or Belt cp can be exsessively loud because of they're high headspeeds and intense thrust. Again this answer can be different based on your heli setup, how you fly, and what electronics you have chosen. The most obvious of noise makers is Gas helicopters and 500 sized electrics, anything smaller is reletively quiet.

3. My favorite RC helicopter is..... well gosh it's hard to come up with a favorite. T-REX, Pixy Zap, HDX 500, Raptor 30... the list goes on. My newest favorite now is the CopterX simply because of it's price tag. You get all aluminum helicopter completely tricked out and flies as well as T-REX...or better, and has insane flight characteristics for it's size for only 169.99!! In the end there's so many favorites because there's one for every size and class of heli.

cheers

How long do I charge my Honeybee FP heli (stock) battery for?

sls.spec

Okay, I got my Honeybee FP in the mail today. I'm trying to charge the stock battery (I'll charge the others later on). It's an ESky 8.4v 650mAh NI-MH (Ek1-0100).

It doesn't say how long to charge the battery for. The manual literally says "During the charging process, you can determine whether the battery is fully charged as follows:

1. Voltage measurement:
Use a voltage indicator. This is the best way.

2. Temperature:
When charging, examine the temperature of the battery all the time. When the temperature of the battery is rising, it shows that the charging is close to finish. Please turn off the charger.

3. Calculation of the charging time.:
charging time = capacity of the battery/charging current."

Why does this poor English translation not surprise me? I guess I should have known they would give me a charger that doesn't even have a stupid indicator light on it to tell me when the battery is charged.
Is there a specific amount of time anyone charges their battery for?

I'm dividing the capacity of the battery (volts or mAh's?) by the charging current.

The charger output is: 12VDC 300mA. The charger itself gets very hot after being plugged in for just a few minutes...but I don't feel the battery warming. Can something give me a time estimate...how long do you charge yours for? I can see that this is going to get annoying, and I'm going to have to get a charger that will actually give me some sort of indication that the battery is fully charged.

Answer
Hi,
If you have 650mAh batteries and are using a charger that charges at 300mAh, then a typical charge will be a bit over 2 hours.
The first few times that you charge and discharge the pack, it will not deliver full capacity. So the heli may be underpowered. After 4 or 5 charge cycles, it should be better.

You might want to read up on the dedicated RC heli forums.

Which Micro Collective Pitch RC Helicopter is better?

Jon

Looking mainly at 2 nano CP Helicopters, the Blade Nano CPX and the Walkera Mini CP 6. I've heard good and bad about both, if anyone personally owns either of these Heli's can you give me some of your own list of Pros and Cons? Also I have only flown FP Heli's and heard the Micro class is best to learn 3D flying. Thanks!

Answer
actually I own both Walkera Mini CP 6 is better in my opnion Walkera is beter

Things I like with the Mini CP.
1. The landing gear is separate from the frame.
2. Servos are mounted very secure and are very close to the main shaft
3. RX mounted vertically. No foam between the RX and frame mount.
4. Canopy mounts with two separate CF rods.

About the Blade Nano CPX
The Cool
Price is great
Cheap and easy repairs
Incredibly durable, lasting and fun to play

Not cool
Charger does not come with power supply (typical)
No brushless motors stock

I just ordered a Syma S108. They look very fun and cooler than the S107. What your opinion? Should I have bought the S107 for $22 or the S108 for $30?
Thanks God Bless.

Answer
i have never heard of this model however after looking up the model i can tell you this they are both mini / micro helicopters.
these micro helicopters are ones that are marketed towards people who are new and or just want a cheap helicopter to try out the hobby without sinking much cash on a helicopter. its also smaller and can be used in small spaces compared to full size helicopters. this model should be easy to fly due to its design.

in terms of s 107 vs s 108 they are pretty much the same and you would not see much difference.

the 107 has a larger battery though and could fly for a few minutes longer.

i would say the s108 is a good choice if your only spending like $30

is this your first helicopter?

if its your first helicopter and later your interested in something more challenging or larger you could go with something like what i did for my first RC helicopter that was above the lower entry level. if your interested in something priced a little higher but could perform better.

this is what i did with my first helicopter.

I own a thunder tiger mini titan e325 3d its electric and i found it easy to assemble( having never done it before)

i liked it and with help learned to fly using it.

you can find this helicopter at many sites

tower hobbies is a good place to buy from
http://www.towerhobbies.com/#

theirs lots of other places you could buy from too.

i would go with electric to start off. gas can be more complicated.

word of advice don't just buy the helicopter find someone willing to teach you how to do it without destroying it.

sometimes they can even help you set it up.

local RC clubs may be able to help you get more info on the hobby.

trust me get help learning so that you don't crash.

its a great hobby and once you learn can be great fun!

so the 107 and 108 are not to different. i wo

Need a good aluminum bodied RC helicopter?

Preston Ri

So I have been looking for a few days but I canât seem to find a good durable aluminum bodied helicopter that is a good price I need a good rc helicopter that is less or at $100 I canât find any really but it has to have a sideways prop or back wing and a balance bar and 2 sets of blades or anything thatâs good and under $100.

(It can be a full size or a mini but a good one)

Answer
aluminum is way too heavy.
a good durable rc helicopter are the ones you find in toysrus.
letme tell you that even if the helicopter had an aluminum shell, when you crash, you would mess all the rotor components, even if you don't break them, you would "bend" them.

a good durable helicopter for newbies is the honey bee v2

check it out at
www.xheli.com
if someone else finds it in other place then go ahead and buy from them, I'm advertising xheli because i have bought 3 helis from them without any problems PERIOD.

the chopper is at 100 dollars, it doesn't look so cool but hey, it's durable and it also shows good stamina.

durability proof:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HgRT1f2_07c

stamina or agility proof:

if someone else finds another chopper, don't blame me, i'm human.

Mini RC plane?

wax

I recently bought my father an RC Super-cub for father's day. Looking at the planes at the hooby shop and online kinda inspired me to give RC flight a try also.

However, rather than get a full size RC model, I was wanting to get a mini-RC plane.

Here's what I'm looking for.

Electric engines
7-10 minute flight time
Small enough to fly on a football/soccer field.
Easy to fly
Highly durable
Ready-to-fly
Price approx $40 or less

It can be either ground takeoff or hand-launch
I like the thought of the dual-engine models that use engine speeds to turn rather than rudders, but that's not required.

Amazon isn't much help b/c of a lack of reviews on many of the models, and many of the RC sites don't give all the information I need to make a good purchase

Thanks in advance

Answer
Alrighty. I have the perfect brand for you! Have you ever heard of Air Hogs? Their product line is best for beginning pilots. If you are not a beginning pilot, then the easy to fly planes and helicopters are good enough for relaxing instead of dealing with those hard to fly and maintain hobby aircrafts. From what i read about the mini- RC plane, I have tested many of the RC planes that will suit you well.

The Air Hogs Aero Ace have been my most favorite plane in the product line for many years. Although one of the batteries in the plane died out from excessive charging (not product defect, but from flying over 100 times) I decided to purchase another one. This is a bi-plane, not the jet. The jet is also good. It is more aerodynamic and fast. The plane charges up in 30 minutes (or less) and could fly for over 10 minutes; depending on how you fly. I get 15 minutes out of it sometimes. These are all hand launched planes. They have dual-engine that turns, no rudders at all. These both charge from the controller. Here are the links to the products. (You do not need to buy from this site, but it is for reference)
The Bi-plane:
http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2338267

The jet version:
http://www.amazon.com/Aero-Fighter-Black-Channel-Hogs/dp/B001159U3Q/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1213849062&sr=1-1

Here is the Air Hogs RC F-16. It is a fast and aerodynamic plane. Although some people have said that they have experienced problems, I have not experienced any when i bought it and flew it. It flies great and fast. The charging time is 30 minutes and the flight time is about 10 minutes. It charges from the controller. Here is the link to that.

Those are the 3 highly recommended planes I would suggest to you from my experience. I personally think that the Air Hogs company is doing a good job at making beginner aircrafts. Check them out. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to message me, and i will message you back as long as you allow messaging in your profile. If not, please message me your email. Happy flights!

and i dont want it to run on batteries like my one.

Answer
sorry but your out of luck on this one

gas powered RC helicopters are generally $750+
their also not small in scale and can be very tempermental
but most are multichannel usually 3-4

you do have the advantage of RC heli experience so you won't need the beginners stand

check out your local RC shop and ask around you might get lucky and find someone willing to sell you theirs

What is a good cheap RC plane or helicopter?

Hooman Spi

I am looking to buy a nice remote control helicopter or plane that would be able to carry a tiny keychain type video recorder so i can make some very amateur and cheap first-person recordings for fun :)

What is a cheap RC aircraft or helicopter that would be able to support a camera and wouldnt crash on the first run... nothing too fancy but just something plain that works.

Thanks :)

Answer
I would recommend a 400 or 450-size electric coaxial helicopter. These are the easiest to fly and the smallest size that can comfortably accommodate a video recorder. Make sure your video recorder weighs no more than 40 grams (1.4 ounces).

The heavier the heli, the more likely it can carry the camera. A helicopter with a flying weight under 400g may cause you problems.

When you mount the camera, try to mount it as close to the helicopter's center of gravity as possible. Too low is better than too high. Too far forward is better than too far backward. You can remove or cut away the canopy if you wish. On the bottom, between the skids and aimed slightly down, is a good spot.

What kind of rc helicopter should I be getting?

Chance

My dad is going to be getting me something for Christmas, $85 limit. I want a rc helicopter. Ive only had cheap walmart ones before, so i need some expertise. Im wanting a namebrand fairly decent sized helicopter that will be able take some minor crashes. I did a little research and it seems that the Align T-Rex 250 is decent. Any ideas? Remember I have $85 to spend, including taxes and shipping.

Answer
I wouldn't recommend the Align T-Rex 250, and it's over the budget anyways? The smaller the helicopter, the more crashes it can resist, and the cheaper the replacement parts are. Just the battery looks like it's 3 times more expensive than a mini helicopter, and you will need extra batteries if you would like to fly for more than 10 minutes.

Do you have a radio/controller already? If you do, you could buy the BNF version of the helicopter and it will be cheaper. If you don't, then look for the RTF version that comes with a radio/controller.

The Blade MCX RTF is $80 at Horizon Hobby
http://www.horizonhobby.com/products/blade-mcx-rtf-EFLH2200
It's a coaxil heli, so you will have to fly it indoors and outdoors only when it's not too windy. It can take a good beating, better than the t-rex, and the parts are pretty cheap.

These 3 are some I have looked at while I was doing research about rc helicopters when I wanted to purchase one. These are fun, you won't be able to do 3D tricks with them though. It depends how many channels was the one you had, these are 3 channels and good practice.

The Syma S107 is $27 at amazon. It's a beginner helicopter, but it's small and reviews say it does good in taking crashes (4 out of 5 stars).

The Helizone Combat fighter 3.5 Channels looks fun. It's $36.99 on amazon, and you can look up videos on youtube.

The Syma S107C has a built in camera, and it's $39 on amazon.

I purchased the Nano CP X BNF, and a DX6i receiver, and depending your age and experience, this is not a beginner one. But it's just something to look for in the future if you want to get into the hobby. The heli cost me $160 online, and the reciever/controller (DX6i) cost me $70 USED.

You could also suggest to him to look on craigslist for used ones, don't be uptight about it and demand a new one if your father can't afford ones over $85. I bought the DX6i for my boyfriend from craigslist, and it came in original box and everything, for less than half the price, and he loves it anyways. You could find a used Blade MCX or MCX2 for a really good price, and if it's from a person that looks like it's their hobby, it will probably be very well taken care of.

you or your father should check out this forum's for sale threads:
http://www.helifreak.com/forumdisplay.php?f=6

you can also feel free to ask questions on there, or check out the "newbie" section for advice, there has been many people also asking for a beginner heli, so you can read the responses.

Don't try to get a "professional" type helicopter because for those you need to make a bigger investment than just the helicopter. For an advanced heli you need an advanced radio, not the ones it comes with, and you will need to purchase a simulator to practice on because crashing the helicopter will cost you a lot of money!

Goodluck and have fun :)

Where to find information on remote control helicopters?

Jall K

Preferably an active UK forum or detailed site, that covers small indoor RC helicopters. Non UK fine too of course.

Answer
If it was me I would start by searching for which helicopter you think you want to buy, then take the name of that and type it in the search on youtube and see what comes up. A picture's worth a thousand words, and a video way more than that. You can see what other people are using and what sort of things the helicoptor is capable of, and you might see one on there that you decide you like better. Good Luck!

where can I fly my RC heli in metro manila?

alrob

Where can I fly my RC nitro helicopter in metro manila?? are there any parks or large open spaces??

Answer
Sorry, I am not from manila, but I could give you a idea. If there are big open parking lots, you could fly there. I am sure there are open spaces. You just have to look harder. If not, sell the nitro helicopter and then purchase some smaller RC helicopters like in the 400 size.

RC model plane fuel and radio?

N M

I am considering buying a rc model kit plane. the kit is a great planes piper cub 20. It was recommended to use a "O.S. 15LA Non-ring 10G Carburetor 871 Muffler", this is from america, but could anyone tell me if the fuel in the UK would work in this engine? As i comes with 10% airplane fuel. But in the UK it is 16%

Also should i buy the radio and servos from america as it is cheaper or should i get it in the UK? Is there a difference in the voltage or is it batteries used?

Answer
The only difference I know of with the fuel is that a US gallon is different from a UK gallon. I can't remember if it's bigger or smaller, but it is different. The actual make up of the fuel is exactly the same though, 16% nitro will be 16% nitro wherever you buy it.

Check with your local hobby shop (but make sure you specify it's for a plane, the fuel is different for cars and planes and helicopters) I found this website where you can get 10% nitro fuel...

http://www.revolutionmodels.co.uk/acatalog/Top_Fuel_5.html

It doesn't matter if it's exactly the same brand of fuel.

The voltage will be the same, and the batteries will be the same for UK and US. If you can get it cheaper in the US then go for it. You will probably have to supply your own batteries, but if it's like a nitro RC car you can use normal rechargeable AA batteries.
I'm surprised they are supplying the fuel though, there are restrictions on shipping that kind of fuel because it is so flammable. You might have to double check with the company you are ordering from what happens about the fuel.

What rc helicopter is good but not too expensive?

lotrGurl23

I am a beginner and want to find a good remote control helicopter.

1. I want it to be able to get of the ground,
2. have a reasonable flight time in between charges
3. be reasonably easy to learn how to fly it doesn't have to be too simple I have a brain :)
4. flies straight when you want it too and not just in circles
5. This is not as important but it would be really nice if it had full range of motion (forward, back, right, left, up, down and possibly hover)
6. If it does crash preferably it won't shatter into a jazillion pieces maybe a gyro would keep it from crashing I don't know enough about them to know

I don't want one too big. Indoor is preferred to outdoor, but if it does both that's obviously fine too :). I've read that a "hobby" standard coaxial mini helicopters are better than "toy" helicopters because if something does break you can replace parts. On the other hand I'm NOT made of money so a $80 helicopter for fun is far out of my budget.

If nothing like this exists sorry to waste your time, but I'm hoping some rc helicopter junkie can read this and have a solution. I tried googling it, but I don't know enough of the terminology to find what I want. I found something called a "E-flite Blade mCX" off of a blog and it sounds awesome but the cheapest I can find it is $60 which is still far out of my budget :\. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Your in luck, there is a mini RC helicopter does fit your criteria pretty well.

Its the Syma S107 mini electric RC helicopter.

I've had mine for some time and I love it, its great fun and easy to fly. Its a good beginners helicopter.
If it does crash its got a metal frame and is pretty durable. Mine hit the ceiling, the desk, and the dog, and it just keeps right on going.

If you get it online you should be able to grab one for around $30 bucks. Thats it.

You can read a full review and see a video of it flying right here:

http://electricrchelicopterreviews.com/

I hope you try the s107 you wont regret it!

Happy Holidays--

Cheers

What are some of the better small Indoor/Outdoor RC Helicopters like the "air hog"?

Brad

Moneys not really an issue, but I don't want to spend like $250 for some RC helicopter I just want to have a little fun with- so $15-40 is my preferred spending area, but I could go higher. Probably not more than $120 or so though.

I did a little search and people are asking really complex questions- like comparing features that don't make any sense to me. I don't know anything about RC helicopters, although I do fly RC gas powered hobby airplanes.

A friend of mine had an air hog that worked great, but then his younger brother got a new air hog for christmas that is different, and doesn't work too well. I've seen other brands that don't work so great either. Does anyone have any recommendations for some of the better "cheap" (as opposed to those several hundred dollar gas RC helicopters my father used to fly) electric mini RC helicopters that can be used indoors and out? Thanks

Answer
For your price range, don't expect a helicopter that can fly outdoors, but you can have a lot of fun with the little indoor electric helicopters with twin main rotors. I can commend the E-Flite brand. They do a little one called the Blade mCX. I fly a slightly bigger one, the Blade CX2, which has had excellent reviews, and which can be taken out on a very calm day. If you don't want to spend as much as that I have also had good fun with the tiny Silverlit helicopters, including the PicooZ TandemZ, which is like a baby Chinook.

What model is the best mini RC helicopter? For indoor use...?

linzter

What model is the best mini RC helicopter? I want it for indoor use, and would like it to be able to hover. Of course battery life and operating time are also factors.

Answer
I bought the Air Hogs Apache Havoc Heli for my fiance, it was $25 on sale at Toys R Us, it comes with a little target that you can shoot with a laser. The target is shaped like a satellite, it blinks and make noise etc. It is a pretty cool toy, the charge runs down after a while but he has never been very bothered by it. The only thing I hate is that hair will get tangled in the tail rotor and it will break, but you can get replacements by calling their company that are cheap. It hovers well, the turning is a little hard but you get the hang of it. I also bought him the UFO one, but it is not as fun even though it has cool light up action. So, that is my review of that although I haven't played with any others.

RC Helicopter (mini, 3 channel, falcon-x) charging problems!!?

Bela the B

when i charge the helicopter, as soon as i plug the wire in the light just stays red! I've only have had this helicopter for a week and i bought new batteries (for the controller) twice! I charge on the controller. What could the problem be?

Answer
Its broken and there is nobody who is able to fix it, like ALL of the little plastic things, they break.
and there is NO business in this world that repairs this sort of thing.

My take on all of this is to simply boycott ALL of the little plastic things!
these things come from some sweat shop in China anyhow.

Consumerism is NOT sustainable.
