rc helicopter servo?

T C

What is servo for? what does it do ?

Answer
A servo is a small motor that is hooked up to the reciver. When the reciever gets a signal from the remote, it tells the servo to move. When the servo moves, it is connected to a linkage that controls either the elevator, aileron, pitch, collective, rudder, or engine power. It does this by either pushing or pulling a ball link which pushes or pulls other links to cause movement of the main blades, tail blades, or throttle. If you are thinking about getting into the hobby, I would say go for it. Before you try to fly anything though, you should go to a flying field to talk to other pilots and get the required permits and license. Good luck, and happy flying.

RC helicopter problems?

theawesome

I have a falcon IX 3 channel gyroscope helicopter. After about a year of flying the bottom blade doesn't spin, the heli makes a squealing noise and doesn't lift off. What could be wrong with it?

Answer
Have you checked the bearing that keep the shaft straight and also the small motor sprocket that connects to the main sprocket.I had the same problem. It was a nightmare!

Answer
Here are some design links. If only to give you ideas or to help with your own.

To look at the "DXF" 3D designs, you will need 3D software like CAD or equivalent.
Free versions of Blender & others. The link provided to.

Why won't my RC helicopter get off the ground?

bon

I recently bought a small WL TOYS spy can helicopter. After playing with it for only a few days (charging all components nightly) the propellor doesn't seem to have enough thrust to lift off the ground any more. The helicopter itself spins around. The rotor works, and I haven't found any hair clogs. What's wrong with it?

Answer
Do you have a trim option? It could be that the motor trim is off center.

Or one of the motors is bad. When one of the motors doesn't spin fast enough, it will cause the helicopter to spin around. If you can't buy spare parts, then you'll have to buy a new one. At least you would have spare parts for the new one.

How do I wire the servos on an rc plane?

I have been awy from rc flying for a while now.
I am not sure which channels to plug the servos and speed control on the reciever.
I have ailerons elevator and throttle.

Answer
The receiver should have small letters by each plug in- thr, rud, aile, bat and such. If there is no label or worn off, then a common order is first bat, then thr, aile, ele, rud, aux. The airplane motor battery or main battery plugs into the esc. or speed control, then the wire out of the esc. plugs into the rud (rudder) slot of the receiver. If you know the brand of radio/receiver, there are lots of online manuals you can download. You can go to horizonhobby.com and bring up pictures of receivers to study also. What a great hobby, I have airplanes, nitro and electric cars, trucks, and several helicopters and what a challenge they are. Now go get er' flyin' !!

How to build a flying alarm clock?

Darius

Ok this question is really challenging. Think about it like this; take how a alarm clock is made and how a remote controlled helicopter is build and both those together. I need to know all the matirials for building it and the cost. Finished product I want is a alarm clock that flys. Thanks Also u can just take how an alarm clock is made and add the consent of a R.C helicopter

Answer
Buy an RC helicopter kit for a fairly big model - upward of 5cc motor. Build that. Fix on a small electric alarm clock by taping it to the superstructure and you have it. There's no point in trying to fuse or integrate the two technologies - they're not related. Look up kit prices on internet - here's an example:
