i have rc helicopter question?

Q. is it okay for BEGINNER to buy 3 channel helicopter or should i buy 2 channel first? im planning to buy mini helicopter only

Answer
Which models are you looking at?

Most of the 3 channel helis I have seen far outperform the 2 channel helis. The 2 channel models are too unstable in terms of yaw stability. They often spin uncontrollably.

If you have links to what you are considering, post them as additional info (or as another question). then we can give you better purchasing tips.

where can i find a R/C helicopter that can carry two small carmeras?

T Man

i have check out, target, radio shack, wal mart...ect, and they all have the same type of mini r/c helicopter, too small to carry a small carmera.
im looking a one that can carry two carmeras or 1 lbs. or will i have to get one of them gas power helicopter for this project??
Thanks!!!

Answer
uh huh... The previous two answers are weird... so allow a RC Pilot to lecture you with a few basic tips and ideas on what to get.

If you have never flown an RC helicopter, please do not purchase an expensive RC helicopter without the proper practice. It has been known that these helicopters have harmed innocent people, especially spectators. Gas helicopters are not necessary since normal electric helicopters are able to carry 1 pound in weight.
I would advise you to get the Blade CX or Blade CX2 for your project. The blade CX (2) is a known second entry level helicopter for beginners who are getting into RC flight. I have hooked up a camera to this helicopter and it has held up in flight for quite a while, so I would suggest that. This will cost about $189.99 USD.

S107 helicopter wobble problem please help?

me

Ok so after flying the s107 for a few days and some minor normal crashes it wobbles whenever I try to fly it. Even when i barely increase the throttle (to where it wont go up and you can turn it around on the ground) it just starts to tip over. When I try to actually fly it it will wobble for a few seconds until the blades catch each other and it crashes. I have had this problem on two helicopters now and I don't know how to fix it.

I have tried adjusting the little knob (sorry I don't know the proper name for it as I am not a pilot) and it doesn't help. I have made sure that the blades are tightened too.

It has not been in any severe crashes to where something would break. I have noticed though, that the top blades connector piece can move (like a teeter totter). I am wondering if there was a little plastic piece that has broken and fallen out.

Also this started happening to my first mini rc heli (which looks exactly like the s107 but doesn't have a model number and a different style front plastic piece.) This one has been flying for months and has had some pretty nasty crashes.

Please if you have a fix for this it would be very appreciated if you would tell me. Thanks!
here is a link to a video showing the problem: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3Y7_H1NOts
The second helicopter is a Falcon 3.5CH

Answer
Your blades are out of balance or the upper blade locating ring is damaged and the assembly is no longer concentric.

RC Helicopter Beginner, landing gear wanting to know whats called!?

Ducky

Ok im starting of my RC helicopter question with a DRAGONFLY 251 model, now befor I have heard of a product which was a pair of landing gear which were 4 beams going out on the bottom with balls on the end of them, theyre called somthing like training landing gear or somthing but I just cant seem to find them anymore. Thankyou for your help.

Answer
Training gear is the term used for the construct that you attach to the bottom of the landing gear to help prevent tip overs during training.
I made mine from two fiberglass rods, 4 ping pong balls and some rubber bands.

why is it so hard to fly this mini rc helicopter. can anyone give me any tips or show me a vid so i can learn?

Neil J

Answer
Sorry you're having difficulties... but as Super-Sabre said, helicopters are difficult to fly... fixed-wing fliers love to refer to them as a collection of parts flying in close formation.

I'm not an RC guy, but I AM a former helicopter crewman with 5000+ hours in the back and 224 hours flying up front.

The FIRST (and hardest) thing to learn is to hover: Apply power to get the bird light on the skids while applying tail rotor to keep the nose pointed straight. Raise the bird to about 2 feet.... and hold it there using SMALL control inputs. Next you learn to raise it to a stable hover and TURN the nose left and right to the major points of the clock: 3, 6, 9, and noon. Next you learn to side-slip the bird around a box (lets say with 10 foot sides).... first, pointing in ONE direction, and then with the nose always pointed inward.

I wish I could find a video, but I'm not an RC kinda guy... just a former pilot. GOOD LUCK
