I would like to get an on-board camera that transmits to a wireless screen so if I am at a park or something, I can see where my RC car is even if it is far away. If you know where I could find one, please let me know. Thanks!

Answer
raidentech:
"2.4 Ghz Mini Wireless Color Camera * R/C Spy Cam * for Remote Control Gas / Electric Airplane, Helicopter, Car @ 2.4GHz !!!! Designed in Japan using Sony/Toshiba technology"

xheli:
"Brand New 2.4Ghz HeliCam - a Micro Wireless Video Camera", can be used on cars as well.

hobbytron:
"Worlds Smallest 2.4GHz Micro Spy Cam! This Complete Kit is completely ready right our of the box!"

Looks like these are good for the RC vehicle. You just need to fabricate a mount for the camera. Enjoy.

HI, I am new to RC Airplane, and would like to work on mini camera for surveillance.?

Any suggestion for having camera which can gimbal?

Answer
Perhaps something like this:

http://www.amazon.com/PLANE-HELICOPTER-HOBBY-CAMERA-AMSD12-4/dp/B005ZPA8F2/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&qid=1350944167&sr=8-15&keywords=rc+helicopter+with+cameras

When you are specifying gimbal, it seems as if you might want 2-way communication or real-time capability. That immensely complicates things, and you might not have the engineering capability for RF circuit design.

But if you attach the camera from the above link, you can do it on the cheap with a fly-by in the area of interest - kind of like the way it used to be done; i.e, U2 spy plane.

What RC heli should I buy?

I'm 15 and I wanted to get an RC helicopter. I've only had one mini helicopter before but I want to get an Intermediate helicopter, because I'm buying it with my own money and it will most likely be a one time purchase. My budget is only $200.00. I only want the single rotor design (Not coaxial). It needs to be durable and perhaps fast. Also, I would like it to be able to go backwards, forwards, side to side, up, down, hover, and turn left and right (for some reason I think that's called 6 channel). If you could also help me with my terminology, That'd be great. Thanks!

Answer
For 200 dollars, you could get an airhogs, but they're for little kids. search for local hobbystores near to you and see if they have something like that.

Simple Model Helicopter???

If I were to take a battery-operated rotary motor (from one of those pocket/mini fans), and attach large model helicopter blades to it (in order to compensate for any weight from the body of the helicopter), would it lift off the ground?

Better yet, let me rephrase: If I were to take a battery-operated rotary motor, and attach large model helicopter blades to it, would the model lift off the ground?

*The model will have a tether so I won't lose it.
I haven't built anything yet, but for now, I want the model simply to go upward.

Answer
Radio Controlled (RC) helicopters are model aircraft which are distinct from RC airplanes because of the differences in construction, aerodynamics, and flight training. Several basic designs of RC helicopters exist, some more maneuverable than others (such as helicopters with collective pitch). The more maneuverable designs are often harder to fly, but benefit from greater aerobatic capabilities.

Flight controls allow pilots to control the collective and throttle (usually linked together), the cyclic controls (pitch and roll), and the tail rotor (yaw). Controlling these in unison enables the helicopter to perform most of the maneuvers an aeroplane can do, and many that aeroplanes cannot, such as hovering and backwards flight; in this manner, they are quite similar in operation to full-sized helicopters.

The various helicopter controls are effected by means of small servo motors. A piezoelectric gyroscope is typically used on the tail rotor (yaw) control to counter wind- and torque-reaction-induced tail movement. This "gyro" does not apply a mechanical force, but rather, electronically adjusts the control signal to the tail rotor servo.

The engines used are typically methanol-powered two-stroke motors, but gasoline, jet turbine and increasingly electric brushless motors combined with a high-performance lithium polymer battery are also used.

I know you can't do much with mini RC helicopters because of their size and power but I'd like to try. Thinking a paint job and/or removing most of the shell to make it lighter. Anything else I could do?

Here's a link and a pic:

Answer
yea, there isnt much besides making a new cover for it, making new landing skids, or putting a new design on it..

What I meant by single rotor design is I don't like coaxial design. Thank you.

Blade MCX. Easy to fly, upgrade, and well within your budget.

Which mini rc helicopter is better? Air hogs havoc heli or havoc stinger?

Which mini rc helicopter is better for controlling and which has a longer lasting battery? I wanna do stunts with it and fly it around the house. I can only choose between the Air hogs havoc heli or the havoc stinger.

Answer
They are both the same. The only difference is the design of the two helicopters. The Air Hogs Havoc is in a Helicopter shaped body and the Air Hogs Stinger is in a Stinger Bug shaped shell or body.... You can NOT do stunts with both helicopters because they are 2 channel helicopters. The only stunt you could do is probably spin in mid air. Both could be flown around the inside of your house but NEVER outside. They both fly about the same and have the same battery time. They vary helicopter to helicopter just by a few seconds. So it is all up to you. I personally suggest the Havoc because it looks more of a helicopter.

Have a happy flying with your future purchase!

How do you remove the main rotors on a CML Mini Vortex RC Helicopter?

Phil

Hi, a while back I bought a Mini Vortex heli from a model shop, and one of the main rotors has broken. I bought a replacement rotor but I don't know how to remove the main rotor and fit the new one. I have searched all over the internet but have found no answers.

Do you know how to do it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! =]

Answer
good question... I dont know either... but seeing how the it is designed, you might need to take out the top rotor in order to do the bottom one, or just the top one if you broke the top one. Anyways... you say you have the replacement rotor. Look at what needs to be connected in the new main rotor and work backwards. Anything that needs to be connected in the new main rotor, take it apart from the helicopter itself and then figure it out. sorry, this is the best I could do... I dont have any good photos on the internet for me to see... maybe if you took some I could see.
