The best mini/micro helicopter?

John K

Ive seen these all around but I dont know which one to buy without getting ripped off. I bought the Firefly one from Circuit City and its no good, if anyone has found a good reliable decent priced one please let me know where to get it.

Answer
Give Nitro rc x a try. They have mini/micro helicopters. Ive ordered several items from the and have been really satisfied with there products.

why wont my mini rc helicopter fly outside?

Neil J

no its not the wind. im talking about the copter doesnt react to the remote like it does inside. outside theres more of a delayed reaction. tell me why is that?

Answer
It is because your helicopter most likely uses infrared technology.
So when flying outside...
It does work, but the signal is just shortened. The range of an IR signal is usually limited to around 30 feet or less. Infrared, also called optical control or opti-control, requires line-of-sight, that is, the LED on the IR transmitter must be pointing at the IR receiver in order to work. It doesn't see through walls. Depending on the strength of the IR signal and interference from sunlight or other infrared-transmitting devices, the range may be shortened. These limitations make IR unsuitable for RC vehicles intended for long-range flight, outdoor racing, and other activities where it may be difficult to stay in range and within line-of-sight.
So... now you know... Let me explain what you might see when you go outside and try. When you go out, you will try to fly your helicopter. It will work, but after a while, itll start flying by itself, and youll lose contorl. It will work, its just that your range is incredibly shortened.

Now, if your helicopter had an antenna on it, and it isnt using infrared technology, then it is most likely due to interference. but I doubt it.
Does your remote look like this:

something like that with a red thing on top? If yes, I answered your question properly.

Is there a penalty for shooting down the newly instated government helicopter drones?

Now that the government is sending out mini helicopter drones to watch citizens, does anyone know what the penalty for shooting one down would be?

Answer
The U.S. has quit pretending to be a nation of laws. If you shoot down one of the government's or a contractors drones, they will kill you. Already been done. The little hovering drones are deployed in groups.

You are better off building a radio jamming device to disrupt them, but keep it moving around. Be advised that if one crashes on your property, it will cause a toxic chemical problem. Don't touch it. Stand up wind when it burns, then use a shovel to bag it and take it away. Dump it in an appropriate location.

How do i fix a spinning rc helicopter?

Q. The model is ... Cobra 3 channel mini helicopter X107 with gyro. I know that the top blades are spinning faster causeing the issue. But how do i fix it?

Answer
the top blade always spins faster than the bottom one (same with big lama 4ch co-axial helicopter, had one... and always broke the upper blade) so here's what you'll do:

if the helicopter spins in a crazy way to watever side, then:

go to the receiver, next to it there is a mixer, like 2 knobs that you can put a screw on it and move it, look carefully and move the "Proportion" knob left or right until the helicopter stops spinning.

if it spins slowly then:

look your transmitter, it has like little knobs that you can adjust left or right, they're called "Trim tabs" move the trim tab from your rudder left or right until the helicopter is steady.

if that's not the problem then it might be time to replace the motor of the upper blade.

if that's not the problem, go to www.rcgroups.com create an accout, post this question there and folks with waaay more experience than me will help you out.

Happy New Year!

Q. i have had 2 mini helicopters with auto stabliser but i want somthing more complex im also looking for something costing less than $300 (AUD) thanx for the advice.

Answer
I just recently got into the rc helicopters and purchased the ESky Lama V4. These mini copters are perfect for a beginner or novice who is looking for a unit that is easy to control. Another unit which is the sister to the Lama is the EFlite Blade CX and CX2. Both the Lama and the Blade are what are called coaxial units which give you effortless controlling. If you are looking for something a little more advanced, Both ESky and EFlite offer larger models that require a little more skill. All in all, most of these units will fall within your price range. Hope this helps!

How do you keep a stable flight?

Mike

I have a little Dyna Blade RC mini helicopter. I understand how trimming works and the controls but am wondering if there any tips that I can use to keep the helicopter stable. It seems to want to wander all over the place even when i'm trying to just hover and keep the tail in one place. Any suggestions?

Answer
well... not for that helicopter. I looked it up, and it seems to have only 2 channels? Is that correct? Coaxial helicopter? well... 2 or 3 channels, im positive its an coaxial helicopter. Tell me if im wrong, and i'll give you the proper information.

So you can't do much to stablise the helicopter. You could try adding an equal amount of tape on the tip of the helicopter blades. It helps stabilise the propellers, thus stabilising flight. But don't add too much... It could cause the helicopter to use more power and give you less flight times.

Another thing to do, is fly in a bigger space. If you are in a space room, the reflective wind will hit your helicopter, creating the helicopter to move in the direction of the wind.

Thats pretty much all I could tell you to do with the helicopter you have.

If the helicopter is new, and is not a 3 channel helicopter, I would suggest returning it and getting the Air Hogs Reflex. I had that helicopter, and it is amazing.

Toast It

I bought my nephew an RC mini helicopter the, 9098A with Gyroscope.

The leds on the heli work, bought new batteries for the Remote, and yet I cant get it to fly.
We try ed for multiple times. The manual says I need to get it gyro scoped with the ground. I try ed this and yet it does not work!
Can anybody please tell me how I can get it done so It flys?

Answer
if you haven't flown it in a while or charged it in a while, it could be junk because not charging it in a while could destroy the battery or motor. try taking it back to where you got it from, and get a new one with your receipt. hope i helped!! =}

Will a helicopter in a moving car hover in one place or move?

hxns

If a you flew a mini helicopter inside a moving car, will it hover in one place or will it move backwards as the car moves forward?
Also assume that the helicopter started hovering first and then the car started moving forward.

Answer
Zardoz is right about the helium balloon. I don't think a mini helicopter would work exaxtly the same way since it's method of flight is not the same a balloon. If the car is already in motion when the helicopter launches it will stay in motion with the car. However changes in accelertion should move the car independently of the helicopter. I think a more interesting question is what would happen to a mini helicopter in an elevator??
