mini rc helicopter 6ch image

I want to buy an RC helicopter. But i have a few problems.
1.What should i consider when choosing a helicopter.
2.What are these channels in helicopters. i have seen 4ch, 6ch, 8ch. What do they mean.
3. What is the difference betweeen 6ch and 8ch helicopters?
4. What is the best brand for RC helicopters?
And is it better to buy a helicopter or is it better to assemble one?
And which method is more expensive?
Answer
Hi Nilushan,
You ask questions that cannot reliably be answered without more information from you.
Budget?
Nitro power or electric?
Indoor or outdoor?
I am going to assume that since you are asking questions about channel configuration, that you are looking at the smaller indoor electric helis.
I fly a lot of indoor aircraft, both planes and helicopters. The best indoor heli is the Blade MCX. $129.00
http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=EFLH2200
It is incredibly stable.
There are cheaper helis, but none that behave as well. The 2 channel helis like the airhogs are barely controllable. Buy an extra battery or two so you can charge while you are flying.
If you are looking for bigger electrics or nitro powered helis, you need to start doing research. Read up on the dedicated heli forums:

As for channel configurations:
2ch throttle and rudder. Up and down, rotate left and right. These cheap helis (Picco Z and Airhogs) are barely controllable.
3ch like a 2ch but adds pitch (forward and backward)
4ch adds roll (move left and right). These are often refereed to as FP or Fixed Pitch.
6ch adds pitch control, these are referred to as CP or Collective Pitch. There are small CP machines usable indoors or outdoors. CP machines are really the only choice if you plan on flying outdoors in anything but those few, rare absolutely calm evenings.
Good luck!
Edit: I understand that imitation is flattery, but really? A word for word copy?!? Whatever.
